ANIMEKO.ORG - Sukuna is one of the main characters in the manga and anime Jujutsu Kaisen. He is the Cursed King with 20 fingers scattered worldwide. He can revive by taking over the body of someone who has consumed his fingers, like Yuji Itadori and Megumi Fushiguro. Sukuna possesses immense power, even capable of challenging Satoru Gojo, the strongest jujutsu sorcerer currently.

Sukuna is known as an expert in cutting techniques, a curse technique that utilizes cursed energy to create sharp knives capable of cutting anything. He has various variations of cutting techniques, such as Dismantle, Cleave, and Slash. He also has an expansion domain called Malevolent Shrine, a giant shrine that can destroy everything within it.

However, in episode 16 of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime, Sukuna surprised everyone by unleashing fire techniques, a curse technique that uses cursed energy to create fire that can burn anything. He used this fire technique to fight against Jogo, a special grade curse that controls the element of fire. Sukuna could even create fire arrows that could pierce through Jogo's expansion domain.

Where does Sukuna's fire technique come from? How can he master fire techniques when he has only been using cutting techniques so far? Does he have other cursed techniques that haven't been revealed? In this article, we will discuss several theories that might explain the origin of Sukuna's fire technique.

1. First Theory: Technique Originating from Cursed Marks

One of Sukuna's distinctive features is the cursed mark that appears on his body when he takes over a vessel. This cursed mark takes the form of black lines resembling tattoos. The cursed mark is actually a symbol of the atrocities Sukuna committed in the past, such as killing and consuming humans and curses.

There is a theory that suggests the cursed mark is not just decoration but also the source of Sukuna's power. This theory states that Sukuna can gain power and cursed techniques from the victims he kills and consumes. Each time Sukuna obtains new power and techniques, a new cursed mark appears on his body.

This theory is supported by the fact that in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, Sukuna once said "buka" before using the fire technique. At that moment, a square-shaped cursed mark appeared on his shoulder. This theory assumes that the square cursed mark is the sign of the fire technique Sukuna obtained from one of his victims. When Sukuna says "buka," he is activating that cursed mark to unleash the fire technique.

2. Second Theory: Rapid Learning Ability

This theory is based on Sukuna's ability to quickly learn new cursed techniques, even with just a single glance. Sukuna demonstrated this ability when he fought against Gojo. Sukuna could use the Reverse cursed technique to heal himself after being affected by Gojo's expansion domain. Sukuna could also transform himself into a cursed object after seeing Kanenbun do it.

This theory suggests that Sukuna can unleash fire techniques because he has already learned them from Jogo during their fight. Sukuna can absorb and convert his cursed energy into fire elements, allowing him to use the same techniques as Jogo. This theory is reinforced by Sukuna's statement that he will fight using Jogo's abilities. The theory interprets this statement literally, meaning Sukuna copied Jogo's techniques after quickly learning them.

3. Third Theory: Lessons Over Thousands of Years

This theory is related to Sukuna's fingers scattered worldwide. Sukuna's fingers are remnants of his body sealed during the Heian era. Sukuna's fingers cannot be destroyed by anyone, even Gojo. The only way to destroy Sukuna's fingers is to resurrect him with full power by collecting all 20 fingers and then killing him.

This theory states that Sukuna's fingers are not just containers for storing his power but also a medium for Sukuna to learn new cursed techniques. The theory suggests that Sukuna's fingers can absorb and learn cursed energy from the places they have been over thousands of years. In this way, Sukuna can acquire diverse cursed techniques from various sources.

This theory is supported by the fact that one of Sukuna's fingers was once in the body of the Finger Bearer, a curse capable of unleashing energy arrow attacks. The theory assumes that the Sukuna finger in the Finger Bearer's body has absorbed and learned the energy arrow technique. When Sukuna's fingers from different locations merge, the Sukuna finger in the Finger Bearer's body imparts the energy arrow technique to Sukuna. With some modifications, Sukuna can transform the energy arrow technique into a fire arrow.

This theory also assumes that Sukuna can obtain fire elements from other sources, such as the cursed energy of Jogo, who carries 10 of Sukuna's fingers. This way, Sukuna can combine fire cursed energy from various sources to produce a very powerful fire technique.

4. Fourth Theory: Technique from Sukuna's Shrine

This theory is based on Sukuna's expansion domain called Malevolent Shrine. An expansion domain is a cursed technique that creates a special space advantageous to its user. Sukuna's expansion domain takes the form of a giant shrine that can destroy everything within it with the sharp knives from Sukuna's cutting technique.

This theory suggests that Sukuna's shrine is not just a place to destroy his opponents but also a place to store Sukuna's cursed techniques. The theory states that Sukuna has many different cursed techniques, and he keeps them inside his shrine. When Sukuna wants to use a specific cursed technique, he has to open his shrine to access that technique.

This theory is supported by the fact that in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, Sukuna once said "buka" before using the fire technique. At that moment, a square-shaped cursed mark appeared on his shoulder. This theory assumes that the square cursed mark is the door to access Sukuna's fire technique inside the shrine. When Sukuna says "buka," he is actually opening that door to unleash the fire technique.

5. Fifth Theory: Part of Cooking Technique

This theory is somewhat related to the previous theory, the technique originating from Sukuna's shrine. However, this theory will explain in more detail about Sukuna's cutting technique and its relationship with Sukuna's fire technique.

Sukuna's cutting technique in English is called Malevolent Shrine, while in Japanese, it is called Fukuma Mizushi. Fukuma means a place where demons reside, while Mizushi means a water source or spring. In this context, this theory assumes that Sukuna's shrine, which is part of the cutting technique, is actually a source of Sukuna's diverse cursed energy, including the fire technique.

In the cooking process, especially in everyday life, some recipes or cooking techniques require different ingredients or elements to create a special end result. Similarly, Sukuna might have a special "recipe" or different elements inside his shrine to create specific cursed techniques, such as the fire technique.

This theory considers the fact that Sukuna's cutting technique has the element of sharp and deadly knives. In the cooking process, knives are often used to cut and process ingredients with high precision. With this analogy, Sukuna's shrine can be seen as a place where Sukuna "cooks" or creates different cursed techniques, including the fire technique.

Regardless of the origin of Sukuna's fire technique, its presence adds a new dimension to his character and enriches the battles in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen. Like many other mysteries in this story, readers and viewers can continue to speculate and try to uncover the intriguing secrets behind Sukuna's powers.
