Jujutsu Kaisen is a manga and anime series that revolves around a world filled with cursed creatures threatening humanity. To combat them, there are jujutsu shamans who use cursed techniques based on negative energy. However, not all jujutsu shamans are considered allies by the jujutsu organization. Some of them have even faced capital punishment for various reasons. Who are they? Here's the list:
1. Yuta Okkotsu

Yuta Okkotsu is the protagonist of the Jujutsu Kaisen prequel, Jujutsu Kaisen 0. He is a jujutsu shaman with powers equivalent to Gojo Satoru, the current strongest jujutsu shaman. His strength comes from Rika Orimoto, his childhood friend who died in an accident and became a special-grade curse that always follows Yuta.
Because Rika often caused terror and destruction wherever Yuta went, also killing anyone who tried to harm or disturb Yuta, Yuta was considered a major threat by the jujutsu organization. Therefore, he was sentenced to death by the jujutsu council. Yuta initially agreed with the punishment and even planned to commit suicide along with Rika.
However, Gojo Satoru's intervention succeeded in postponing Yuta's punishment. Gojo then brought Yuta to the Tokyo Metropolitan Magic Technical School, where he met friends and mentors who helped him deal with his issues with Rika. There, Yuta learned to control and use Rika's powers effectively and also discovered his purpose in life as a jujutsu shaman.
2. Yuji Itadori

Yuji Itadori is the main protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen. He is a high school student with extraordinary physical strength but not interested in sports activities. He prefers to join the Occult Research Club, which investigates supernatural phenomena. One day, he and his friends get involved in an incident involving a cursed finger, one of the twenty parts of Ryomen Sukuna, a powerful and evil curse king.
To save his friends from the curse attacking them, Yuji decides to swallow the cursed finger and become Sukuna's host. Nevertheless, Yuji demonstrates a rare ability: the capability to control his body from Sukuna and not easily succumb to Sukuna's will. This catches the attention of Gojo Satoru, who brings Yuji to the Tokyo Metropolitan Magic Technical School.
There, Yuji is given a chance to live as a jujutsu shaman, with the condition that he must swallow all the remaining cursed fingers of Sukuna and then die along with Sukuna. This is a death sentence imposed by the jujutsu council, considering Yuji's potential as Sukuna's host highly dangerous. Despite this, Yuji does not give up and is determined to use his powers to protect those dear to him.
3. Masamichi Yaga

Masamichi Yaga is the head of the Tokyo Metropolitan Magic Technical School and also the mentor of Gojo Satoru, Yuta Okkotsu, and Yuji Itadori. He is a jujutsu shaman skilled in cursed corpse techniques, allowing him to create and control dolls with cursed powers. One of his notable creations is Panda, one of his students who is a special-grade cursed corpse.
Due to his exceptional abilities, Yaga is feared by many jujutsu higher-ups who worry that he could create cursed corpse armies that threaten their positions. Additionally, Yaga is known for bravely opposing the jujutsu council's authority and often defending his students considered problematic, such as Yuta, Yuji, and Megumi Fushiguro.
Eventually, Yaga was charged with treason against the jujutsu organization and sentenced to death by Gakuganji Yoshinobu, the head of the Kyoto Metropolitan Magic Technical School. Yaga was killed by Gakuganji, but before his death, he managed to create a new cursed corpse resembling himself and gave it to Yuji as a symbol of friendship and trust.
